Hi Gus and Shadow

Hi there Gus and Shadow, Mom and Dad are tired out from driving, so they are sitting down reading the paper and mail. We were good girls on our trip to South Fla. and grandmom liked us. Mom said she never liked dogs, but we are so cute and little, that she let us in her house. Mom's girlfriend let us in her house too, and we slept with Mom and Dad, but got on her couch.
When we got back to our house Dad left the door open just a wee bit, so we went for a run out on the front street and on the busy street. It was great fun to see Dad try to run after us. Mom waved at a big truck and the nice man got out and called me, so that was the end of the run.
Mom and Dad are mad at us now, but that will end soon.
Mom just said she would talk to you next week, she wants to take a bath and go to bed early.

Nancy's Quilt and RANT

Nancy's quilt and RANT
Nancy, I love the pattern and the illusion of circles that it forms. You did a great job.

BTW, I have enjoyed reading and posting to this site through the last 10 years. However, it has become a headache to say the least when it comes to trying to post a remark, etc. One day I have no trouble, the next it repeatedly says I am using the wrong password (even through it is the only one I have ever used), it tells me I need to do so and so because of the new setup. It has taken me 10 minutes just to get here today. There are to many hoops to jump through and at my age, I just don't feel like it. DOES IT REALLY HAVE TO BE THIS FRUSTRATING to use this site?

Thanks for letting me vent. I'll continue to read from time to time, but I will probably not make anymore post.

I've Been Blogged! Along With Kaffe Fassett and Other Quilters!

Wow! I've been published (on the net) and I didn't even ask!

I recently found a blog by Marina and Daryl of Quilt Inspiration. That day their post was about Dear Jane quilts and I thoroughly enjoyed their careful research in writing and reporting.

Soon after, they asked for permission to include a couple of my shirt quilts in today's article on quilts from recycled clothing. (This one is not there...two others are.) You can rightly guess that I wasted no time in saying, "Oh, Please Do!"....ooops....no, that isn't what I said. It may have been what I thought, but my response was a polite email something to the effect of "Oh, sure! Anytime!"

Their previous articles have impressed me in terms of scope, creativity, and effort! They spend considerable time researching, gathering, writing.

So if you love quilts (or if you are just plain curious) go to their article posted today..."Waste not, want not; Quilts from reclaimed clothing". You will see numerous types and styles of quilts made from recycled clothing.

Don't forget to click on their links to other Q photos and other Q websites. Way too much fun!

It's finally finished!

I finally finished the king-size quilt for my DS & DIL! They've been stationed overseas since 2001 and I promised it would be finished by the time they returned to the States. Luckily, they reinlisted several times! They are returning this summer. It was started in 2002 - that's when I cut out all the pieces. I machine pieced the blocks over a period of time, in between other projects. Then the blocks were assembled and the border attached. That was about 4 years ago maybe. I basted it and put it on a frame in my dining room, but just didn't work on it very often. After about 2 years, I finally took it off the frame, stuffed it into a huge plastic shopping bag, and started working on it with a hoop on my lap. Last summer we found out they would be coming back this year, so I got serious about getting it finished. It's the only quilting I've done since last Fall. It's pretty cumbersome trying to quilt a king-size on your lap - I'd pull out a section and get it in the hoop and stuff the rest back in the bag. I never really knew how much I had left to do, so it was a surprise when I found I had done the last block! The border went quickly. I had marked the border in pencil all those years ago and the marks were still there! The blocks were marked as I went along. So I just HAD to show it off. I sent them pictures and they are very well-pleased (good thing too, because I'm not doing this again!). I know I asked some questions and advice about this quilt along the way and I thank all of you who helped me! NancyH
