Almost there!

Just finished HQing the last block in a king size Tennessee Waltz quilt that I've been working on since 2002! That's when I cut it out and it probably took 6 months to piece it all, working in between other projects. Put it on a frame a few years ago for the quilting but just wasn't spending any time with it. So off the frame, into a hoop, with the bulk going into a big bag on the floor. I only have the border left and it should be relatively quick. Promised to son and DIL when they went overseas that it would be finished when they return - which will be in July. So I'm sort of on schedule??? Can't tell you how many other smaller quilts I've done in the meantime, but now all energy is going into finishing this one. NancyH

SEVEN MORE BLOCKS TO GO!!! That's the status of the wedding quilt. I might make it by the quilt show and the anniversary in August. Just might depend on how busy the long arm quilter is. I have a lot of squaring up to do with 99 blocks. They've been done on three different machines which is a mistake I'll never make again. The new 6600 piecing foot makes perfect seam allowances while having to eyeball it even with the help of good old Dr. Scholl's moleskin guidance is inconsistent. That foot is one of my chief reasons why I prefer Janome. Those blocks are almost perfect 10.5" but some of the others are smaller than that so I'll have to cut all of them down to 9.5. All that cutting is a pain both figuratively and literally on the bad foot. However I don't want to have to re-make them.

Thumb Thimble

Does anyone know where I can find a large-size thumb thimble, also called a tailor's thimble? It's metal and has a hole in the top. The one I have is a size 11, which was the largest they had in the shop when I bought it several years ago. They don't carry them anymore. It's too small for a friend who wants to try using one. She has some arthritis and her thumb is broad and flat. I've been searching and can't come up with a good source. Any suggestions? Thanks! NancyH

Quilt Show Pictures

Our guild's show is done for another year. It was spectacular (Oh, I'm biased :) )
Here are my webshots photos . If you want to see them in a slide show just look
over to the right margin & you'll find that option. Jill
