Re: serger question

Thanks to Kathi in Idaho and Laura in IA. I do change my thread like you said, Kathi, I was taught by the person who services my serger to set all the settings to zero then knot the new thread to the old, pull it through, then cut the knot to thread the needles. Works really well.

Thanks for the tip on threading the right needle first.I guess the only way I'll find out is to try the clear nylon thread.

Have you noticed that some ready made garments and other things are serged with clear nylon? Thanks again.

Sorry, I don't own a surger, so can't help with that question.
I do have a question about Fons & Porter, in Winterset Iowa. Does anyone know if their shop had any flooding recently, with all the Iowa, and midwest USA flooding? The latest magazine says they are near DesMoins. (sp?)

serger sewing question

July 8, 2008

It's been awhile since I've posted, I'm surprised I was able to sign in so easily.

My question is more a sewing question. I dread changing the thread on my serger, although I try to keep it threaded with a neutral gray, but sometimes even that doesn't work. For anyone out there who knows, would it be ok to just keep it threaded with nylon/invisible thread for general serging?

Thanks for any input.

Hi,
Anyone planing on being in Sisters next weekend for the quilt show? If so a few of us plan to meet at 2 PM in the courtyard behind the ice cream shop. Feel free to stop by and have a small rest and chat. :-) Let's keep our fingers crossed that it isn't TOO, TOO hot!

Sue, what a lovely quilt! Thank you for sharing.

Hope to see a few of you in Sisters!

Tin Lizzie

Does anyone out there have the Tin Lizzie medium arm quilting machine? I tried it for a few moments at the Vermont Quilt Festival and I was impressed that I could meander when I don't even know how to meander! It was so easy to use, I'd love to have one, but don't have an extra $7,000 lying about. Oh, well. I don't have the space for it at the moment anyway. But it sure is nice to dream! Has anyone used one? Pros and cons would be appreciated.
