Old Days / Old Ways

I really miss the ease and free flowing conversation from the former days of this board. Where has everyone been the last several days? With Spring fever, I'm guessing anywhere but inside sewing.

All is well here. Just checking in.

Quilt Show

I will be taping the 2009 Its a Stitch Quilt Show for our local cable channel again on May 2nd. If you live somewhere close to Milwaukee this is a great show and well worth a visit. The site of the show is Kettle Moraine Lutheran HS in Jackson, WI and the show runs May 2 &3 from 10-4. I can't wait! Great quilts, vendors and awesome food!

Bubble Jet Set

Does anyone have a newer bottle of Bubble Jet Set? I'd like to know if the label says anything about carcinogens. I have gone to the website of the chemist/maker, www.cjenkinscompany.com and read all the info on printing on fabric (which printer ink does what) as well as the Bubble Jet Set. None of the shops here has it at the moment. Reading his comments it appears it has been improved (dries in 30 min. as opposed to 24 hours). I have done printing on fabric but have not tried the BJS and trying to set the ink so that it won't fade when washed. Thanks for any help.

Special Fabrics Produced For The Benefit of Project Linus

Last year at International Quilt Market in Houston the two women who head up Project Linus met with well known fabric designer Patrick Lose and recruited him to design some fabrics for their good cause. He agreed to do this and Avlyn is manufacturing the fabrics.

Read more about it at http://www.projectlinus.org/fabrics.html

These fabrics will be carried by your local quilt shops and a percentage of the wholesale price will be donated to Project Linus. I checked out www.quiltshops.com today and didn't see any "Komfort Kids" fabrics offered for sale yet .... and none at www.equilter.com either. Guess I'll have to keep looking for an online source for I know I'm not gonna find it in my small town.

Got a very nice announcement in the mail today and also the notification came in my Project Linus email digest for coordinators today. The notice on the Linus website first appeared yesterday. I suppose all of this is a bit of "jumping the gun" and perhaps they expect us to hassle the local quilt shops to carry the fabrics .....
