OOps, posted my question on the chat board. It was about Maytag cordless irons. When my iron died last week a friend loaned me her Maytag cordless. After I decided that was just what I wanted I could not find one anywhere. Looks like they are discontinued. Anyone know what happened or why? Were they defective? Anyone have one?
Thanks,
Betty in VA

I cannot help with information about Maytag cordless irons but I can tell you that I love my Panasonic Cordless iron. Therefore, you don't have to give up hope ... just do a search for "cordless iron" and don't be fussy about which brand you search for. I don't use it for my quilt work (I use a heavy old dry iron for that) but I dearly love the cordless for ironing garments.

Maytag was sold out to Whirlpool last year. I don't know if that is why the dropped the iron or not. There hometown plant in Newton Iowa is (or nearly0 completely shut down.I recently read of someone who's Maytag iron only preformed well for 3 years, but I cannot vouch for the truth or circumstances of that.

I think Fons and Porter (Marianne Fons and Liz Porter) used to use this iron on their PBS series. You could try their website (fonsandporter.com) and maybe ask them about it. They've been pretty quick with responses when I've had a question for them. Good luck......NancyH
