Connecting Threads Fabric

Has anyone ordered fabric from Connecting Threads lately? I had some from about 3 years ago and it seemed to be very loosely woven and just not what I'd consider "quilt shop quality". Their prices are good and I believe their cottons are advertised as USA-grown. But I hesitate to order because of past experience. Any thoughts? Thanks, NancyH

I ordered some about 1 and 1/2 yrs. ago and it was just fine. Ordered some thread also, some spools were good, one was not.
Maybe there isn't good quality control

That was a topic of discussion in our small group. The ones who had ordered were disappointed in the quality, as you were. I'm guessing it was in the last couple of years.

I do order from Connecting Threads and I don't feel their quality is as good as quilt shops but it is better than chain fabric stores. I do use their thread and like it but feel the circumference is bigger than others brands. I also had a spool with areas of fuzz which wouldn't go through the eye of the needle and therefore would break while sewing. Because I make a large amt. of quilts for charity I am happy with their prices and satisfied with the quality because at $10.00 and up a yard for quilt shop quality, I would be making very few charity quilts. I also use their fabric and mix it in with quilt shop fabrics for my own use and gifts. It washes, irons and wears beauitfully. I guess it compares to some people driving BMWs vs. some driving Chevys.
    Whatever you use...........keep on quilting.

Good thoughts, ladies! At least I don't feel it was "just me". And, Phyllis, you make a good point about using it for charity quilts at the good prices. Thanks! NancyH

I have just ordered twice from them for the first time in recent months. Of course there was no complain with the book order at 40% off!! But I took advantage of their recent batik sale and the fabrics seem equal to other batiks to me. Maybe because they start with a firmer fabric to begin with?? I've always been somewhat leery of buying their fabrics, but these are ok. I have a heavy duty quilting friend who loves their threads.

My complain about CT is that they sometimes have patterns I would like to try, but they're only available if you buy the kit and their kit colors are never what I would choose.
