Thread Nests
Sara,
I googled "thread nests' and came up with this...
http://www.sewgirls.com/embroidery/Thread-nest-problem-928-.htm#932
That person suggested that (on a Bernette 340) when threading the top thread, be sure to thread with the pressure foot up. Threading with the pressure foot down can cause the nests. Try this. Let me know if that helps.

Nests:
Well, I'm sewing along, this time with a decorative stitch, and all of a sudden-BAM the thread breaks. I take the fabric out and see a ton of thread nests on the bottom.
I changed the needle, put different thread in. Cleaned everything I could. Put in another bobbin, and was careful to put it in correctly.
I took the machine to the repair shop yesterday. I should get it back next Monday. At that time I'll begin to look at other machines. One GF has a Janomme 6600 that she loves. I might check that out first.
Thanks for all the help.

Sara, when you took the machine to the shop did you take the "ton of thread nests" along and show it to the service people? Or at least take along a digital photo of the problem? Seems to me that you should give them proof that the machine is misbehaving so they understand what to look for instead of just giving the machine the usual "ho-hum" routine cleaning and adjustment type of "service".

No, I didn't take the thread nests, didn't even think of it.
The wind is kicking up pollen, and a constant headach here. I'm not the only one, everyone I talk to has the same problems.
Just going to chill out about the machine for a week or so and go on to spring cleaning and planting, and other such.
