Flying Geese

Here are my geese! I was a little skeptical at first as to whether this was going to look okay, but after all the blocks were sewn together and that blue border added, it came to life. This was a group effort so there was a real diversity when it came to fabric selection. Can't wait to get quilting on it. The blocks are 9" finished. Just had to share this one. NancyH

Nancy, I just love it! Great use of color and that's certainly a quilt with lots of "zing"!! Please tell us the story behind the "group effort" you referred to ... and who in the group is the lucky one who gets to keep this yummy quilt?

The "group effort" is a quilting group at our church. There are 8 of us and we raffle off 2 quilts a year to benefit a scholarship fund for our youth group. Usually I make the tops and we all do the hand quilting around a frame when we meet once a week. But this time everyone who likes to piece took on several blocks. A few in the group only do the quilting - no piecing. The blocks all fit together perfectly too! Nancy

I love the scrappy look of the quilt and what makes it is the contrast in the quilt. Nice quilt. LONNA IN WI

Love it, love it, love it! Are you allowed to post the raffle information? Lavinia

Lavinia - I don't think that would be allowed, and I don't think I'd want to get into "on-line raffling" - that sounds way too complicated. We have 2 events at which we do our drawings, so this will be raffled at our church either in August or December, whenever we get it finished. We're shooting for August. I can let you know about tickets when they start selling them if you wish. They usually sell for $1 or 6/$5. Proceeds go to a scholarship fund for our youth group based on service to the parish rather than on grades. The quilt is 72" x 90" by the way. My email is kirkshire637-quilts@yahoo.com. Nancy
