They will give you an idea of how to get your treadle up and running, and the group is very helpful if you have questions. You can arrange to get the Digest daily in email. I love the group. They are all folks who love to actually use their old people-powered machines. They do quilt block exchanges, and get together for a day or a weekend to enjoy socializing with like-minded folks. But you needn't join the group to visit the website and learn about the machines. There are other groups, too, but that's a good one to begin.
