This flannel quilt has had me ripping out more than sewing. but, it should be near completion by the new year.

I love it, Beth! The flannels now are so lovely. I've accumulated quite a stash of them, and your quilt is giving me some much-needed inspiration to get started on a new flannel project.

so far it's 54" square, so I am planning another four 12" squares on top, and on bottom with some sort of fillers. I like accumulating flannels, the leftovers go to ragg quilts. Those are the first thing everyone pulls out to cozy up into.
    Thanks for the pleasant comment.

Hi, Beth! I love the cardinals in your quilt. Cardinals and flannel -- definitely a cozy winter quilt.

why thank you,JudyPete, what a nice thing to say. I wish there was more variation in the cardinals, but I can't do much except cut them each a bit off center.

Beth, I love it too! Did you design this or is it from a book/pattern? Nice setting and color combination. NancyH

I wish I could design better. I did do this myself, hence all the ripping. My plan was developed over the summer, while up at camp. I wanted a flannel quilt to use up there that was pretty, yet aligned a bit with nature. Beige. Nature. Purple. Okay, so it was a stretch, but it still was my inspiration. The cardinals helped. I have Judy Martin's Block Book that I brought up to camp along with graph paper, colored pencils, etc. So then in evening time sans tv, I could sketch. I wanted large pieces because flannel stretches so. I've had the center block done for a few months (I am a weekend quilter, work a full time and part time job) and last weekend I finally got the surrounding blocks done. Because I am visually planning challenged, I love the use of digital photos. I can switch things around and look to see what I like best. I don't have the artist's mind-eye.

I think that's what I enjoy most about looking at quilts --- wondering what was the inspiration or color combination thoughts. Even when I see ones I don't particularly like, I sure can appreciate them.
