I just found the copy of my entry form that came back with the letter and check. On the top it says in handwriting: "Quilt for Hire, B-33, 2nd. $250. Need I say more? Lavinia-TN
Lavinia, this truly sounds like someone did some underhanded manipulating. Your letter was extremely tactful and well stated. They ought to be ashamed! As a fellow Tennessean, I'll be sure folks in this part of the state know not to bother with that quilt show in the future. Beth
The original listing of Lavinia's quilt as second place tie can be seen at the cached site... http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:wp5s_pMO2acJ:www.mountainquiltfest.com/winners.asp+%22mountain+quiltfest%22+2007+lavinia&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=3&gl=us
Thanks for finding that, JudyPete, because now we can all see the pretty red second place ribbon. I can understand how it would be difficult to quickly summon up a duplicate of that lovely ribbon. However, the show organizers should have hustled their bones to find someone to make a suitable classy and elegant replacement if the original maker of the ribbons refused to make any more.
