Seeing Broken Icons in Other Posts

Other members seem to be having problems displaying photos so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

This photo shows an unquilted quilt top I made from scraps of Christmas themed fabrics collected over many years of making Christmas gifts for women I work with. The pattern is "Scrap X" from www.quiltville.com and making this quilt cured me of any possible future interest in scrap quilt making. From here on out when I make something from Christmas themed fabrics the scraps get tossed out. LOL Yes, the quilt was quilted by a professional long arm quilter and she did a fine job. The quilt went on the bed the day after Thanksgiving and looked festive with Santa and penguin and snowman scatter pillows. This quilt has been claimed by my daughter as her "heirloom" when I am dead and gone.

Glad to see the reference to quiltville. Isn't that a great site to visit? Lots of times when I'm needing inspiration I go there and scout around.

Looks great. I think that a quilt has to have at least 30 fabrics in it to be really interesting. Why would this beautiful creation have turned you off scrap quilts? They're more difficult in some ways, but so much more fun, in my opinion.

QM Judy, I'm on new medications for high blood pressure and I seem to have the attention span of a flea. I thought I would *never* be able to force myself to finish this quilt top. This almost became a UFO (never had one of those before) but I realized it was the meds that were sapping my creative energies and so I put a mental gun to my head and soldiered on. As long as I take pills that make me lazy and dopey I have to limit my choice of quilt patterns. I am considering pitching the pills ... but that's a not a topic for a quilting forum. :-)

Judy, if you don't get your mental edge back in a few weeks, as your body gets used to the meds, then you might want to discuss this with your doctor and see if there are alternative meds that will work with more acceptable side effects. Okay, I'm putting my nurse hat back in the closet now.

Judy - This was a great idea for Christmas scraps - love the pattern. I have a pile of Christmas scraps that I never want to get rid of "just in case". A Christmas scrap quilt may be just this thing! Thanks - you did a great job! NancyH

Nancy, my box of Christmas fabric scraps was about the size of a mover's "book carton". I had a true jumble of colors and prints that would never have worked with anything like a set of placemats that you would look at close-up. The only thing to do with the mish-mash I had was to cut it into smaller pieces. I used trimmed pages from an old telephone book as the foundations for piecing the blocks. That's a king sized bed and once the quilt was quilted and laundered the take-up and shrinkage made it considerably smaller than it looks in that photo.

Thanks you all for your kind words. I am pleased with the end result ... it was worth my hours of griping and grumbling. :-)

Hey, would you adopt me please and send me your scraps? Hahahhaha. Lavinia-TN who is getting better and better at trying to use them....we spend years learning to coordinate color then throw it all out the window and keep mumbling to ourselves, dark, medium, light...LOL.f

Judy it's a beautiful quilt. You have far more patience than me for sticking with a KS quilt you didn't care to be making! It is very striking though.

I love your comments of making your quilt. It was hilarious! I understand the feeling. If it can't come together in 10minutes I get antsy!! The quilt looks beautiful. I am tring to make a mile a minutes quilt pattern, but I'm not liking the results I get. I guess I'll keep trying until I use up my scraps!!!!
