Convergence quilt

Have any of you ever made a Ricky Timms convergence quilt in a bed size? I'd like to try one (I've made one in a lap quilt size several years ago), but I'm not too sure if the technique lends itself to larger sized quilts. My thought is to use it as the background for a large applique. His book suggests 16" or so blocks to use for the convergence, and the one I made was four of those put together.

Any suggestions?
