The revamped sewing room

After most of the past three days being spent taking everything out of the room, rearranging the furniture and then sorting and refolding a load of fabric, I've finally started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. You can't see the wall to my back yet, as I still have a mess on the cutting table that will wait to be dealt with tomorrow.
My "new" sewing table is an old desk. For the time being, my machine will sit directly on it. But we made a great find at a yard sale last weekend, and I have a solid wood top that will be mounted on the desktop once I decide exactly where I want the machine. DH will do a cutout for the machine to drop into to level it with the table top. My cutting table can be moved over to make a large space at the left of the machine for supporting the quilts while I MQ.
And yes....I'm tired!!!

Isn't it exciting to be able to arrange your creative place to please yourself? I also have my machine in front of a window and love when I'm working on some smaller pieces I see the reflect of the sky, birds, etc. in the clear extension on the left of my machine. The other day I saw an eagle fly over. Hope you can soon sit down and ENJOY!!

Love it! Nice job - can't imagine completely emptying the room and starting over, but that's the way to do it. I also have my machine in front of a window, but I have the window at my back. This leaves the back side of my sewing table (and me too)facing out. I like that better than having my fabric go up against the window wall as I sew - it just hangs freely from the back of the machine now. It's kind of like a desk in an office - you can see what's going on instead of having your back to the rest of the room. Looks like you have lots of great light too - good job!! NancyH

Great job Kathi! I would just suggest that you might want to have some sort of cover over your fabric or you might get fading on the folded edges... depending on how much sun your room receives. My sewing room was all organized once..... but now all available surfaces are covered with not a clue as to what to do with all the "stuff"!!
