Wikipedia

Be cautious when perusing Wikipedia, and don't depend on it for factual information. Since anybody can edit it, there's a great opportunity for mischief there.

Pat, I use Wikipedia a lot and find it a very handy source of information. Last week I used it to look up the year Audrey Hepburn died and to look up the origin of the snowshoe Siamese cat ... neither item is of vital importance, mind you, but sometimes things are more quickly found in Wiki than by doing a Google search. I have Wiki right next to Google in my Bookmarks Bar on my iMac.

Judy, if you look up something that's important to you, be sure and double-check with another reliable source.

It is my understanding that after some scandal about a biography that was changed to include some ugly comments, all changes are now checked by an editor. I have found the non-biographical entries to be useful. With any important research, always check with two or more sources, as Pat says. Also be aware of the reputation of the sources...
