A photograph, ...I think!
This is the Queen Sized "Hearts For Stacie" quilt that I made for my daughter's 25th birthday in 2002. I paper pieced the heart blocks from Carol Doak's Foundation Factory CD and HQed it. The inner border was made from all the heart fabrics in the quilt. Celia in NB

Beautiful quilt, Celia. Love the hearts and really like that inner border. Gave me an idea for a quilt I have on the design wall. All piano keys would be too much but, I think if I do the inner border as you did, it would work just fine.
