Cleaning an old machine

What do you use to clean the outside of an old Singer (the 404 again LOL)? I have the book but nothing in it about the outside of it.

    If it is dirty with grease, use WD-40, carefully wiping it clean afterward.

    The metal. No grease, just the build up from sitting over time someplace. Should not have bought it. Trying to clean it up to resell.

    WD40 is a good cleaner - you can scrub with some nylon net if you need to. Use strips and "floss" in the hard-to-get areas. Wipe it off with a soft clean cloth.
